This is one of the cheapest real portable air conditioners I have seen in the UK. It cools, dehumidifies and ventilates, but the price does come with a few very obvious compromises.

For £149 this is proper compressor air conditioning, not a small water cooler. It can cool a small room, but it takes time, the compressor is loud and the included window kit is the weak point.

Yes, but not instantly. In my small room it took around two to three hours to bring the temperature down properly. That is still a huge step up from a normal fan, which only moves the warm air around.
The 7,000 BTU output makes most sense in a bedroom, office or other modest room. In a large open-plan space it will have a much harder job, especially during the hottest part of the day.
Noise and installation
The compressor is clearly audible and the quoted maximum is 65dB. I would cool a bedroom before sleeping rather than expect it to disappear into the background all night.
The supplied window kit is also not ideal for many UK top-hung windows, so getting a proper seal may take extra work. At £149 the cooling hardware is great value; the accessories feel like the budget part.
