Who we are
Gadget Squared is the independent UK creator brand responsible for this gift finder and is the controller of the information saved through it.
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to privacy@gadgetsquared.com.
What we collect
- Account details: when you sign in with ChatGPT, the site receives your email address and, when available, your display name. We never receive your ChatGPT password.
- Your saved finds: product identifiers and links, the recipient and occasion, list titles, private notes, and the dates items were saved or changed.
- Survey clues: answers such as age range, interests, budget and gift style are used to create recommendations. They are not added to your account database unless a saved find contains related recipient or occasion details.
- Essential technical data: hosting and security providers may process IP address, browser and request information needed to deliver and protect the service.
- Anonymous-use allowance: before sign-in, the site places a random visitor identifier in an essential cookie and stores the number of gift searches or wheel spins used. It does not contain your name or email address.
Why we use it
Account and saved-find data is used to provide the service you request: signing you in, keeping your lists private, saving your notes and letting you export or delete your data. This processing is necessary to provide those account features.
We also have a legitimate interest in keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, diagnosing faults and avoiding repetitive recommendations. We do not use your saved notes for advertising.
Storage, cookies and retention
Saved finds, lists and notes remain in your account until you remove them. In My Finds, you can export a copy or permanently delete all site-held account data. Essential provider security records may be retained separately under the provider's retention rules.
The finder uses session storage in your browser to remember only the identifiers of recently shown gifts, so it can avoid repeats. This is limited to the current browser tab session. An essential, HTTP-only visitor cookie remembers the five-use anonymous allowance across visits. Essential sign-in and security storage may also be used. We do not currently use advertising or third-party analytics cookies on this site.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the use of your personal information, and to receive a portable copy.
Start with the export and delete controls in My Finds, or email privacy@gadgetsquared.com. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
